GUILLEN ENCOURAGES VETS TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF FREE MUSEUM ADMISSION
Veterans And Their Families Can Visit Museums, Historic Sites Across Texas Free of Charge
AUSTIN - As an avid supporter of Texas veterans, Representative Ryan Guillen (D - Rural South Texas) is promoting an opportunity for veterans and their families to get admission to state museums and historic sites this summer.
"Texas has many sites and museums that preserve the unique history of our state," said Guillen. "I'm happy to announce that many are waiving entry fees for veterans during the summer. Veterans sacrificed so much for us, this is one more way that we can give back."
The Blue Stars Museum program runs through Labor Day and includes historic sites and museums. Some of the historic sites preserve the memory of military service in Texas including the Fannin Battleground in Fannin and the National Museum of the Pacific War in Fredericksburg.
Representative Guillen is proud to serve the veterans of Texas and works diligently so that we will never forget their sacrifice. Guillen was an author of a bill that exempted active duty members of the Texas National Guard from paying for fishing and hunting licenses. He also authored a bill which secured more money and benefits for the Texas Military Department and its members. He has also implemented and improved the Hazlewood tuition payment program for veterans and their families.
"This is but one way we can give back to the veterans who gave so much for us," added Guillen. "We must never forget their sacrifices."
