GUILLEN HONORS PEACE OFFICERS ON FOURTH OF JULY

Recognizes The Bravery Of Their Service

AUSTIN - As the Fourth of July approaches, Representative Ryan Guillen (D- Rural South Texas) would like to take the opportunity to thank the brave men and women who keep our communities safe.

"Our peace officers work day and night to ensure our protection ," said Guillen. "I am tremendously grateful for the bravery and courage they exemplify in the line of duty."

Throughout his time in office, Guillen has fought diligently to protect those who serve in law enforcement. He played a key role in the passage of legislation that secured $25 million in funds for a grant program to provide bullet proof vests and body armor for those serving in law enforcement agencies. He was also an author of legislation that established criminal penalties for taking a weapon from an officer with the intent of using it against the officer. Guillen was also a sponsor of the constitutional amendment that created property tax relief for surviving spouses of first responders that fall in the line of duty.

"To all members of the law enforcement community, thank you for your service.", said Guillen. "Together let's keep South Texas safe."

Serving ten rural South Texas counties in the Texas House of Representatives, Ryan Guillen is known for his hard work, fierce independence, and relentless efforts for South Texas families. Recently, Capitol Inside called him a “House Bill Machine,” and a “one-person assembly line for legislation.” Since elected, few other legislators have passed more bills than Guillen.
