GUILLEN ENCOURAGES TEXANS TO ENJOY A SAFE OUTDOOR SEASON

Guillen Celebrates the Start of Hunting Season

AUSTIN- Now that the weather is finally cooled off, Representative Ryan Guillen (D- Rural South Texas) encourages South Texans to get out and enjoy the many outdoor activities Texas has to offer.

"Our beautiful state has so much to offer, from parks to hunting grounds to hiking trails, there's so much to choose from," said Guillen. "It is important that we respect the natural beauty of Texas and do what we can to preserve and enjoy it."

Since he was first elected, Guillen has been passionate about passing bills that help support recreation and the great outdoors within the state of Texas. In 2007, he authored a bill that provided additional funding to the preservation of historic sites. In 2015, another bill authored by Guillen made it easier for disabled veterans to receive hunting and fishing licenses. In the most recent session, Guillen was both a sponsor of a bill that helped reduce handgun license fees and the author of another bill that created several new measures to protect the vitality of the oyster industry within the gulf. Guillen has also been a longtime supporter of funding for Texas state parks.

"Fighting for Texas parks and outdoors is very important to me because I know they are very important to all South Texans," Guillen added.

Serving ten rural South Texas counties in the Texas House of Representatives, Ryan Guillen is known for his hard work, fierce independence, and relentless efforts for South Texas families. Recently, Capitol Inside called him a “House Bill Machine,” and a “one-person assembly line for legislation.” Since elected, few other legislators have passed more bills than Guillen.
