Texas Speech Language and Hearing Association Endorses Rep. Ryan Guillen Re-Election Campaign

AUSTIN - The Texas Speech-Language-Hearing Association (TSHA) has endorsed the re-election of Representative Ryan Guillen (D- Rural South Texas) in a show of support for the Representative's work on behalf of speech, language, and hearing issues in South Texas. Guillen has also consistently fought to increase the access to healthcare and quality of healthcare in South Texas across all medical fields.

"I am very grateful for the endorsement from the Texas Speech Language and Hearing Association," added Guillen. "They do great work on behalf of Texans with speech and hearing issues, and, with your help this March, I look forward to continue fighting alongside them in the legislative session to come."

Guillen has been an advocate for increasing health funding and improving the everyday lives of Texans ever since he was elected. This past session, he  was an author of HB 25 which increased the reimbursement rate of Medicaid acute care therapy services, helping to ensure that Texas children with disabilities, such as speech and hearing disabilities, have access to the vital health care services they need at a price their family can afford. He also championed support for the Teacher's Retirement System of Texas healthcare program, TRS-Care, and secured $1.2 billion to stabilize the fund and reduce premiums and deductibles for retired teachers.

"Healthcare is not a privilege but a right," said Guillen. "Increasing access to care while also providing quality care is essential and that is why I continue to fight for better healthcare in South Texas."

The TSHA is a professional membership organization for speech-language pathologists, audiologists, the citizens of Texas with speech or hearing disorders, and students of speech-language pathology and audiology. TSHA is determined to empower members by providing the highest quality care, raising public awareness of communication disorders and highlighting the importance of speech-language pathology and audiology research.

Serving ten rural South Texas counties in the Texas House of Representatives, Ryan Guillen is known for his hard work, fierce independence, and relentless efforts for South Texas families. Recently, Capitol Inside called him a “House Bill Machine,” and a “one-person assembly line for legislation.” Since elected, few other legislators have passed more bills than Guillen.
