Texas Municipal Police Association Endorse Guillen In Upcoming Election

AUSTIN - The Texas Municipal Police Association (TMPA) has endorsed the re-election campaign of Representative Ryan Guillen (D- Rural South Texas). Like TMPA, Guillen promotes public safety so that South Texans can sleep safely at night.

"The Texas Municipal Police Association is vital in representing and helping those police men and women who protect us each and every day," said Guillen. "So I am humbled that an organization as important as TMPA has endorsed me in the upcoming election. Together we can make Texas safer."

TMPA is the largest police association in the United States. It works to protect the rights and interests of Texas law enforcement officers. Known as the Voice of Texas law enforcement, they provide legal assistance, lobby at state and local levels, and offer affordable training and member support for more than 24,000 enforcement officers across Texas. TMPA is committed to providing a wide variety of benefits and is focused on protecting those who serve.

Throughout his time in office, Guillen has fought diligently to protect those who serve in law enforcement. He was critically important to the passage of legislation that secured $25 million in funds for a grant program to provide bullet proof vests and body armor for those serving in law enforcement agencies. He was also an author of legislation that established criminal penalties for taking a weapon from an officer with the intent of using it against the officer. Guillen was also a sponsor of the constitutional amendment that created property tax relief for surviving spouses of first responders that fall in the line of duty.

"For years I have been fighting for the protection of the people of South Texas," said Guillen. "Together in this upcoming election, with your support, we can continue to fight to make South Texas even safer for all members of our communities."

Serving ten rural South Texas counties in the Texas House of Representatives, Ryan Guillen is known for his hard work, fierce independence, and relentless efforts for South Texas families. Recently, Capitol Inside called him a “House Bill Machine,” and a “one-person assembly line for legislation.” Since elected, few other legislators have passed more bills than Guillen.
