HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONALS ENDORSE GUILLEN

The Texas Hospital Association, Texas Academy Of Family Physicians, And The Texas Medical Association Back Guillen In Re-Election Bid

AUSTIN - Three Texas healthcare organizations have announced their endorsement of Representative Ryan Guillen (D - Rural South Texas) as he seeks re-election in March. Guillen has prioritized improving the quality and accessibility of health care for all South Texans while also reducing the cost.

"Improving the accessibility, quality, and affordability of healthcare for South Texans is a priority of mine," said Guillen. "Together, with your support on March 6th, we can work together to achieve these goals."

The Texas Medical Association (TEXPAC), The Texas Hospital Association (HOSPAC), and the Texas Academy of Family Physicians (TAFP) are membership organizations that advocate for the improvement of healthcare systems throughout Texas. TEXPAC is a bipartisan organization that focuses on electing medicine-friendly candidates at the local, state, and federal level. HOSPAC is an organization that focuses on advocacy and improving future health care systems. TAFP is dedicated to the promotion of a health care environment that values the vital role of family physicians in providing quality, comprehensive care to all Texans.

Since his election, Guillen has continuously worked to improve health care outcomes in South Texas. In the 83rd legislative session, he helped create the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley Medical School with the goal of increasing educational opportunities in the community while also increasing the number of healthcare providers. Additionally, Guillen was a sponsor of legislation passed last year which capped prescription drug co-payments for South Texans.

"Although we have done a lot to advance and improve the healthcare systems in South Texas, there is still much work to be done," said Guillen. "That is why I will continue my fight to make healthcare more affordable and accessible in South Texas."

Serving ten rural South Texas counties in the Texas House of Representatives, Ryan Guillen is known for his hard work, fierce independence, and relentless efforts for South Texas families. Recently, Capitol Inside called him a “House Bill Machine,” and a “one-person assembly line for legislation.” Since elected, few other legislators have passed more bills than Guillen.
