AGC Texas Building Branch Endorses Guillen In Upcoming Election

AUSTIN - The Associated General Contractors Texas Building Branch (AGC TBB) has endorsed the re-election campaign of Representative Ryan Guillen (D - Rural South Texas). Like AGC TBB, Guillen promotes awareness of and advocates for the needs of builders in the Texas construction industry.

"The construction sector is vital in creating jobs for South Texas, which is why I am humbled that an organization as important as the Texas Building Branch has endorsed me in the upcoming election. Together we can make Texas even greater," said Guillen.

The AGC Texas Building Branch is the service chapter for all AGC building branches in Texas. They act as a liaison between the State Legislature and local commercial builders, dispersing information about updated policies, and advocating for the needs of builders. AGCBB also maintains contact with regulatory agencies, awarding authorities, and executive agencies that affect the construction industry. The organization especially focuses on issues involving the retainage on public works, and regulating the limitations on contractor and subcontractor liabilities for construction projects.

Guillen has worked diligently to foster a positive environment for the construction industry throughout South Texas by helping to promote the creation of jobs and improve the overall infrastructure and business climate in South Texas. He was an author of a bill that cut the state's business franchise tax by 25%, was a key supporter of legislation protecting contractors from building defects, and his work has helped bring the unemployment rate in his district down from 9% to 6%, with an 8% increase in average yearly wages.

"I fight every day for the people of South Texas," said Guillen "With your support in the upcoming election I will continue the fight to make South Texas an even better place to live, work, and raise a family."

Serving ten rural South Texas counties in the Texas House of Representatives, Ryan Guillen is known for his hard work, fierce independence, and relentless efforts for South Texas families. Recently, Capitol Inside called him a “House Bill Machine,” and a “one-person assembly line for legislation.” Since elected, few other legislators have passed more bills than Guillen.
