FARMERS AND RANCHERS ENDORSE GUILLEN
The Texas Farm Bureau and The Texas And Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association Endorse Guillen For Re-Election
AUSTIN - As a 6th generation South Texas rancher, Representative Ryan Guillen (D - Rural South Texas), is humbled that both the Texas Farm Bureau (TXFB) and the Texas, and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association (TSCRA) have endorsed his re-election campaign.
"As a fellow Texas rancher, I am conscious of the hard work it takes to maintain a ranch," said Guillen. "Working together with the Farm Bureau and TSCRA, we have accomplished some great things for Texas ranchers and farmers, but more remains to be done, so we need your support in this election to continue to fight for South Texas in Austin."
Guillen has always been a diligent supporter of the farmers and ranchers of South Texas. Guillen was vital to the passage of legislation that helped offset the financial cost to ranchers whose land and livestock were quarantined due to fever ticks, and he helped secure over $12 million to help fight fever ticks and protect the cattle industry. Additionally, Guillen has successfully fought to protect the agricultural property tax exemption, including a bill that protected the ag exempt status of landowners who destroy or treat diseased citrus trees.
The Texas Farm Bureau is an organization that is committed to protecting the property rights for farmers and ranchers. With more than 500,000 member-families, the Farm Bureau is dedicated to improving education, economic opportunities, and social advancement for these families. TSCRA was founded in 1877 by 40 cattlemen who wanted to end livestock theft. The organization now represents more than 17,500 cattle producers, ranching families, and businesses as members. The mission of TSCRA is to protect the stewards of land and livestock in the Southwest.
"As essential components of our economy, we must cultivate and protect our state's agricultural resources, our property rights, and our rural way of life," added Guillen.
Serving ten rural South Texas counties in the Texas House of Representatives, Ryan Guillen is known for his hard work, fierce independence, and relentless efforts for South Texas families. Recently, Capitol Inside called him a “House Bill Machine,” and a “one-person assembly line for legislation.” Since elected, few other legislators have passed more bills than Guillen.
